Oh Hey There 2018

Hello Happy 2018. Its the first post of the year so I thought I would share my goals here on the blog. I know its already half way through January but better late than never right? I only have two goals that I want to focus on this year but one of them is pretty broad.

My first and main goal is to focus on better self care. Eat better, drink more water before and while drinking, learn how to do my make up better, do yoga once a week, get more sleep, mediate every now and then, overall just be better to myself and focus on what's good for me.

My second goal is to post more often on this blog. I started blogging years ago...my first post ever in the blogging world was April 3, 2009. Almost nine years ago. After doing my first blog for two years, I went on to my second and did that one for almost five years. Our wifi company that we had at the time closed down and no one else offered internet where I lived...out in the country. I would go to Starbucks or the library and post that way but somewhere along the way I just stopped posting. For so long I said I was going to make a new blog and then I finally did...this one! I haven't posted the way I thought I would but I love blogging so I want to get back into it.

I feel pretty good about my goals...last year I gave up beer for a year. Now to be clear, I did still drink. I didn't give up alcohol so I would just have margaritas, whiskey, or vodka. 2017 was simply a "year without a beer". Halfway through the year I did find some spike sparkling water that I happened to love...it was really low in sugars which was something I was looking for. If you knew me personally than you know that I would always drink beer and a lot of it. I hadn't really thought about giving it up but on January 1st last year I woke up and decided to do it...and I made it through the whole year without drinking a beer. I actually just had my first one 3 days ago. I could drink it but the first few sips were pretty awful lol

So there you go...My 2018 goals are out there in the world! Cheers to a Happy New Year!

Happy for the Holidays

I really can't believe Christmas is in just a few 3 days! Thankfully I wrapped up all of my shopping today...I.am.so.happy. The weather has been pretty warm so I've been getting away with light layers and of course I had to pull out my velvet star booties. They make dressing during the holidays just a bit more special and fun. The booties are definitely one of my favorite purchases from last year.

December has flown by but I've been able to do a few fun Christmas things during the past weeks. Here are some of my highlights.

My family had a gingerbread house party and I completely surprised myself with how good it turned out...it had a rainbow roof which I'm pretty proud of. I decorated some plain stockings for me, Chris, and Scar and made them sparkly and festive. The other night I went with my sis on a hayride to look at houses that were decked out in christmas lights. And the best part of this month was the night me and Chris bought our Christmas tree! We bought wine, a cheese plate, and decorated the tree while listening to Christmas music and then...it snowed!!! Are there enough exclamation points right there? Yeah I was so excited...it felt like a perfect night.

Wishing everyone all of the Happiest Holidays, the Merriest Christmas and all that jazz!

Life Lately

1. At my happy place. Chris and I drove down to the beach earlier this month. One of the great things about Texas is that it still feels like summer in November. The weather was perfect and the water looked beautiful.

2. Wings! So yummy...me and Chris shared this deliciousness just the other day.

3. Noses stuck in cook books. We spent an afternoon hanging out at barnes and noble checking out tons of good recipes.

4. Mirror selfie of an outfit I wore out for some fun. Sometimes you get tired of being cute and have to show some cleavage lol

5. Comfortable clothes for a 3 hour drive include stretchy jeans, cute slides, big shades, and a cozy sweater.

6. One of the best parts about having Scar live with us at the apartment is finding him in the craziest sleeping positions. Me and Chris are always snapping pics of him when he passes out like this.

7. This past weekend Chris played in a softball tournament. I was there in the stands to cheer him on. We ended up being at the ball park until midnight!

8. I don't have a green thumb but thankfully Chris kinda does. We currently have a little garden of bell peppers and jalapeños growing on our patio.

9. Gym selfie in my Tone It Up tour shirt. Fun fact: I hardly ever pull my hair back when working out.

Chris is in culinary school and happens to be in a baking class. Before this class, he hadn't baked anything...like ever. So on the weekends he likes to practice and get better at it. We ended up baking about 60 cookies this particular night. Thankfully my brother came by and I was able to send him home with some cookies so I didn't have to eat them all.
