Fishtail Braid Tutorial

Lately I've been trying out new hairstyles that I plan on sharing here on the blog. I've always loved the fishtail braid and I figured everyone probably already knew how to do it so I hadn't really planned on sharing the tutorial here. Well the other day while at the gym (which is my favorite place to wear my hair in a braid) a girl asked me how I did my hair. At that point it occurred to me. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe  everyone doesn't know how to do the fishtail. So here we are...if you don't know how to do, give it a try. It's really easy, I promise.
1.Pull hair to one side and tie with an elastic
2. Separate hair into two strands
3. Take a small strand from the outside of your first strand
4. Cross over and add to the middle of the second strand.

5. Keep repeating these steps on each strand... Pull from outside and cross over.
Your braid should start to look something like this.
6. When you get to the end of your braid tie the end with an elastic.
Take off the elastic you first put in your hair and fluff your braid.
Ready to Wear!!

Mermaid Braid Tutorial

Hey it's Friday!! I wanted to leave you all with a fun braid to try this weekend. I finally learned how to do a mermaid braid. I've always wanted to know how to do it simply because of it's name. In another life I would be a mermaid. Last summer I really got into braids and they are my go to hairstyle whenever I want to pull my hair back...especially while working out. I usually switch them up every now and then. The mermaid braid has been my favorite this summer.
Separate hair into 3 sections, 2 large strands and 1 small strand
Braid up the large sections. Make sure to rubber band each braid.
Open up the first loop of the braid, stick finger through and grab the small strand, pull through.
Cross over and repeat for other braid.
Repeat these steps until you complete the full braid.
It should look like this.
Rubber band the full braid and remove the rubber bands from your initial separate braids.
 Loosen up the braid &
 it's ready to wear!

How To Do a Unicorn Braid

I've just recently got into playing with my hair more often...braids seem to be my go to thing. Lately I've been learning how to do different types and thought it would be fun to share a few of them with you. This week, I'm starting out with something super easy...the Unicorn Braid (or as some people like to call the Rope Braid...but unicorn is so much more fun). This literally takes no more than a minute and is perfect for those days when you don't have time to fuss with your hair but want to look cute.

Here's How to do a Unicorn Braid.

1. I like to start with my hair straightend but that's up to you.
2. Make your part, I like to do mine to the side.
3. Pull all of your hair to one side.
4. Separate into 2 strands.

5. Twist one of your strands counter-clock wise.
6. Twist the other counter-clock wise as well. I usually just use my mouth to hold the 1st strand.
7. Start your braid by twisting the strands clock wise.
8. Twist all the way down, make as tight or lose as you want. Tie with a rubber band.

All done, so easy right? And it seriously takes no more than a minute.

I hope you enjoyed this. Next week I'm going to share the 5 strand braid so be sure to check that out.
